If you have built up 40 quarters of social security tax and
are 65 years or older, you are entitled to receive Medicare
Health Coverage.
Medicare provides basic medical coverage, but has many
limitations. In-hospital deductibles, for example, are very
high and there is no coverage outside the United States.
The new Medicare drug benefit will not supply full benefits
until 2006 and may not help all recipients.
Medicare Supplement plans step in to fill the gap between
Medicare coverage and your health care needs. Most Medicare
Supplement plans will cover:
- $792 per day of hospital deductible for days 1-60 of hospital
stay
- $198 per day of hospital deductible for days 60-90 of
hospital stay
- $396 per day of hospital deductible for days 90-365 of
hospital stay
- $100 doctor's deductible
- $97 per day of skilled nursing facility care for days
21-100 of stay
- $50,000 emergency out of US medical expenses
- Prescription co-pay and many other benefits
- Choice of more than 10 Medicare Supplement plans.
