Type of Health Insurance Products
HMO (Health Maintenance Organization): HMOs offer pre-paid
health plans, with the highest benefits and lowest out of
pocket costs. Generally, the choice of doctors and hospitals is
limited to those doctors and hospitals that have agreement
with insurance company. The only exception is for emergency
cases. Benefits are usually very good, but the choice of
doctors is limited.
PPO (Preferred Provider Organization): PPOs are well-
suited for individuals who want the freedom of choosing their
doctors and hospitals. As a PPO subscriber, one has the choice
of using either the PPO Providers or a non-providers. Generally,
by using PPO Providers you will recieve higher benefits,
lower co-pay and less out of pocket.
Free Choice of Providers and plans of insurance.
POS (Point Of Service); POS is a combination of HMO and
PPO. The POS plan has an element of HMO (Great Benefit,
Limited Choice of Providers) and an element of PPO (Free
Choice of Providers). POS has Great Benefits, Lower rates
than PPO.
Group Health Insurance
A business owner or a corporation can purchase group health
insurance, on a tax deductible basis, for owners and employees.
Group health insurance usually provides greater benefits than
individual policies. While individual health insurance can be
denied due to pre-existing medical conditions, a group
of 2 to 50 employees cannot be denied coverage, regardless of
the health condition of participants. Generally, no health
questions are required.
At Century Total Insurance Agency, we search the Group
Health Insurance Market for the best benefits and
rates.
